Through the Narrows

An enchanting tale of a 6-year old Cherokee boy and a 3500-year old Jewish woman on a journey towards hope.

Award-winning puppetry artists Chris Griffith (Cherokee Nation tribal member) and Shari Aronson share stories inspired by their own ancestry: a 3500 year-old Jewish woman, recounts her crossing of the Red Sea, and a 6-year old Cherokee boy bears witness to the Trail of Tears. With the live music of instrumentalist Greg Herriges, slide across centuries and continents to travel from struggle to triumph.

After the performance, Z Puppets invites the audience to make a simple, miniature puppet figure to take home and call on for strength in hard times.

Recommended for Adults and Youth ages 9+.

Through the Narrows is also available for streaming as an Audio Drama.

“Very glad that this story about how to get through narrow passages in life is being told in such a thoughtful way.”

“There is no reason that both the painful truth and the story of liberation cannot both be told, without sacrificing one for the other, or having to view it from only a single side of history.”
