Z Puppets Rosenschnoz, an award-winning Minneapolis performance company, is launching a quest to help keep alive the endangered Cherokee language through the power of playfulness.

Z Puppets’ Creative Director Chris Griffith, an enrolled member of the Cherokee Nation, created SAY IT! SING IT! PLAY IT! IN CHEROKEE, a live touring show and web series, in response to the three federally recognized Cherokee tribes declaring a state of emergency for the language in 2019.

To reach a larger national audience, Chris Griffith created the virtual version of SAY IT! SING IT! PLAY IT! IN CHEROKEE. In November, one of the Midwest’s largest performing arts venues, the Ordway Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, premiered the online version of SAY IT! SING IT! PLAY IT! Schools, community groups, families and individuals streamed the musical adventures of Dagsi Turtle and Jisdu Wabbit as they travel through time and space to help Grandmother Turtle.
